Description

See the land where The Lord of the Rings trilogy were filmed. After a complimentary hotel pickup, you will arrive and meet your helicopter pilot, who was the actual film pilot for the movies. You will fly along the Shotover River, over the mountain range from the opening scene of The Two Towers on the way to landing on a glacier alongside the Misty Mountains and get a sense of what it might be like to cross The Redhorn Pass. You will head across to Glenorchy via the Dart Valley and Mt Earnslaw to see the natural features you may better recognize as Isengard, Amon Hen and Lothlorien. This 70 min excursion will conclude with a drive back to your hotel in Queensland.

You will be picked up via courtesy shuttle from your Queenstown accommodation or the center of town and be driven to the hangar. You will then depart from Glacier Southern Lakes Helicopters hangar at Queenstown Airport, after a safety briefing from the team and be introduced to your pilot, Alfie Speight, who completed the aerial film work for both Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.

On this flight experience there will be two landings: one on Clarke Glacier in Mt. Aspiring National Park and another in Skippers Canyon. Lord of the Rings commentary will be included along the way about the scenery throughout the whole trip!

Photos are available on return from your flight and you will be driven back to your hotel in Queensland at the end of the tour.
